Your 2017/18 Grandville Varsity Hockey team started the season with a league win over GRCC. After a scoreless first period, Trevor Gelfius got the Dawgs on the board with an unassisted goal.  Just 18 seconds later, Chris Northous buried a rebound to give Grandville a 2-0 lead.  He was assisted by Shane Haggerty and Pat Underwood.  Two minutes later, GRCC pulled back to within one.  After a net front scramble and a couple of sparkling saves by rookie netminder Caden Fisher, GRCC was able to poke home the loose puck.  The second period ended with Grandville holding a 2-1 lead.  Strong play to start the third resulted in the eventual game winning goal by Zach Tykocki on a beautiful feed from behind the net.  Assists went to Shane Haggerty and Trevor Gelfius.  GRCC would get a late power play goal and pressure in the closing minutes but Fisher and the Grandville defenders held them off for a well earned victory.  The Dawgs are back in action for their home opener on December 2nd, 3:00on at Georgetown Ice Arena
